Tellurium trioxide has two configurations: α- TeO3 and β- TeO3, two configurations of tellurium trioxide have great differences in preparation and properties.

Tellurium trioxide can be produced by dehydration of original telluric acid by heating:

H6TeO6=TeO3+3H2O

Put pure original telluric acid H6TeO6 into a porcelain crucible and slowly heat it to 300~320 ℃, and keep stirring. When the water is completely removed and removed, it is cooled, and the product is extracted with cold concentrated hydrochloric acid for several times, so that the TeO2 generated in the reaction can be removed from it. Then wash the product with water and dry it at 100 ℃. The product is α- TeO3。

The pure original telluric acid and a few drops of concentrated sulfuric acid are burned and sealed in a glass tube, and heated at about 320 ℃ for 12-15h. Then boil the reaction product in KOH concentrated solution to remove α- TeO3。 Use the glass sand core funnel to β- TeO3 is filtered out and thoroughly washed with water. Finally, dry at 100 ℃, and the product is pure β- TeO3。
